Hotels
on the Greek Islands
It is not easy to describe the beauty of the Greek islands with
their age-old history, remnants of monuments of all eras, legends
interwoven with the past. Each island is a story in itself. The
words of the poet Odysseas Elytis that “Greece rests on
the sea” are true. Three quarter of Greece’s landmass
is surrounded by the sea. Only one fifth of this area, some 25.000
km², are islands.
There
are over 3.000 islands and islets of which only 167 are inhabited.
With their picturesque landscapes, mild climate, stunning beaches
and host of monuments, the islands attract millions of visitors
seeking relaxing and interesting holidays.
