The
Byzantine Sotira
Lykodimou church on Philellinon Street
is the largest medieval building in Athens.
It was built in 1031 as part of a Roman Catholic
monastery that survived until 1701. In 1850,
the building was restored by Tsar Alexander
II and since 1852, it has been serving as a
Russian Orthodox church.
