Agios Symeon (Saint
Symeon)
The small church of Saint Symeon is situated in Anafiotika on
Theorias street towards the Acropolis. It was initially built
in the 17th century as a small single-naved barrel-vaulted basilica
but in 1847 it was rebuilt by the residents of Anafi (hence the
name Anafiotika for the area) who settled in the area and took
over the church’s maintenance. The icon of the Virgin Mary
Kalamiotissa can still be seen in the church today.
